Opera Siam presents "The Pastoral Symphony" concert performed by Siam Sinfonietta in the Main Hall of the Thailand Cultural Centre, Ratchadaphisek Road, on July 23 at 7.30pm.

As suggested in the title, the concert will feature Symphony No.6 In F Major, Op 68, also known as the Pastoral Symphony, composed by Beethoven.

Called "The Infinite Variety Of Music" by Leonard Bernstein and "more an expression of feelings rather than tone-painting" by Beethoven himself, the enchanting piece seems to be one of the least-often-performed Beethoven symphonies in Thailand.

However, it is one of Beethoven's greatest works, and the only one of his symphonies with a "programme" -- each movement illustrating one of the elemental aspects of nature.

The concert will open with a series of showcases by international choirs from the 12th International Choir Competition in Thailand. They include Gita Vyatra Choir from Indonesia, Choir of St Nicholas Cathedral from Russia, Calliope Chamber Choir from Thailand, and Izanami Choir from Japan.

Tickets cost 550 and 850 baht and can be booked through Line @opersiam and ticketmelon.com/operasiam/trisdee.

Call 061-971-6477.
