The Support Arts and Crafts International Center of Thailand (SACICT) is spearheading efforts to promote Thailand to become "Arts & Crafts Knowledge Center" in Southeast Asia by launching the "SACICT Archive", a handicraft searching system, which will link various knowledge platforms together so people from all walks of life can participate and be able to access information.

SACICT Arts and Crafts Knowledge Center offers a full range of knowledge in Thai arts and crafts via SACICT's exhibition halls, library and shops, as well as modern technology platforms with digital arts and crafts search system.

Therefore, SACICT Arts and Crafts Knowledge Center, with its one-stop service for knowledge, is being deemed as the number one centre for information on handicrafts in Thailand and in the region. What makes SACICT Archive stand out is, first, the fact that this is probably the first time in Thailand that there is a search engine for arts and crafts on digital platforms.

Second, the database collection of craftsmanship and artworks have been created by a string of master Thai artisans and craftsman, handicraft heirs and designers, all gathering knowledge and information from various sources within the handicraft communities in the region they reside.

Needless to say, the treasure trove of information and knowledge are prized for education, research and historical reference. There are books and video on arts and crafts that SACICT has prepared for communities and the general public to use for research when gathering data from anywhere in the world.

Currently, SACICT provides information and knowledge on five categories which include Thai master artisans and their heirs, Thai handicrafts, village arts and crafts, local museums and publications/videos.

Information from here include study of personal know how, the process of making handicraft products, the value of craftsmanship and the historical value in design and the academic work which include the invention of new innovations and commercialisation.

Among the many that stand to benefit from this are the students, who will not just gain knowledge but also an appreciation for Thai arts and crafts, not to mention the added benefits for study and research which can then lead to the continuation and sustainability of Thai craftsmanship.

The SACICT Archive can be accessed via archive.sacict.or.th. and their website SACICT.or.th.

Public are welcome to visit SACICT Arts & Crafts Knowledge Center at the SUPPORT Arts and Crafts International Center of Thailand, Bang Sai District of Ayutthaya province.
