Legendary Japanese rockers return to Bangkok

Post-rock and indie music fans will rejoice as legendary Japanese instrumental rock outfit MONO return to Bangkok as part of their annual World tour. Thai fans will get their first opportunity to see the band perform material off their latest studio album Nowhere Now Here on Sept 24 at Live Arena, RCA.

With a career spanning two decades, MONO -- guitarist Takaakira Goto, bassist Tamaki Kunishi, guitarist Hideki Suematsu and drummer Dahm Majuri Cipolla -- have developed a reputation as pioneers of post-rock (even though the band members themselves reject this label). Their distinctive approach combines dramatic orchestral arrangements and effects-laden guitar. The result is a sound and style which is held in extremely high regard by rock music critics and fans alike.

Nowhere Now Here, the group's 10th studio album, was released worldwide in January this year to coincide with their 20th anniversary, and was produced by industry legend Steve Albini.

MONO regularly feature at major music festivals around the world, including last year's Meltdown Festival in London as one of the headliners, personally requested by curator Robert Smith of The Cure. The band has also shared the stage with such illustrious names as Nine Inch Nails, Mogwai, My Bloody Valentine and Deftones to name but a few.

As part of their current world tour, MONO are playing 150 shows in over 57 countries. Having recently completed the European leg of their tour at Supersonic Festival in the UK, they are now in Asia for several dates, starting with their hometown of Tokyo, followed by Taipei, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Mono Asia Tour 2019 in Bangkok takes place on Sept 24 at 8.30pm at Live Arena, RCA. Tickets are 1,400 baht, available via Ticketmelon.com/sss/mono2019.
