The heart of the Siam area has become a landmark of design and art showcases with the initiation of "DesignNation 2019", which is running until Nov 24.
A collaboration by Corporation 4D and Siam Synergy, the creative design and art festival is a platform for creativity held with the aim of leveraging the sector and promoting Thai products and services to international markets.
Running under the theme "Futurizing The City", the festival is packed with numerous design exhibitions, seminars on several topics by keynote speakers from Thailand and overseas, live music, performances and screenings of movies on art and design.
They are presented across the Siam area covering MBK Center, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, Siam Paragon, Lido Connect and Siam Square.
Visitors can witness design works from many countries as well as art theses by design students from across the country and learn about living trends for next year and also how chefs and entrepreneurs combine design with gastronomy.
A highlight is the "Design Market" at Discovery Plaza in Siam Discovery which features more than 5,000 works in 10 categories including furniture, fashion products and jewellery, from 200 brands.
They are presented in the form of pop-up shops by various groups -- Design Plant Design PLANT, a group of well-known furniture and decorative designers; Thong-Ek Design District, a collection of design studios and furniture stores of both local and international brands; Young Graphic Designers & Illustrators, a group of jewellery designers; and Innovation Craft, a group of new designers.
