Recognising the country's art scene and digital economy, Siam Piwat and Iconsiam have joined forces with Baandam Museum, Kasikorn X and Plan B Media to host the first Thailand Digital Arts Festival 2022 (TDAF2022) to provide a platform for Thai artists to showcase their creativity and create new visual art experiences.
Featuring more than 1,400 actual artworks by famous Thai artists, the exhibition bridges two parallel realms -- the physical and digital worlds -- by categorising them by disciplines, methods and styles. Art lovers might view all the pieces in both tangible and digital formats.
Culture Minister Itthiphol Kunplome, creative director Doytibet Duchanee of Baandam Museum of the late National Artist Thawan Duchanee, Thanamet Ariyawat, head of a venture builder from Kasikron X, and president Mayuree Chaipromprasith of Siam Piwat presided over the opening ceremony at Iconsiam.
"TDAF2022 constitutes an important milestone in the Thai art circle and successfully connects art into the digital world for the first time, not only in Thailand but in Asia. This effort provides a great opportunity and a new platform, building on the wealth of Thailand's cultural assets to create a digital economy. It brings Thai talent to the world. The Thai cultural heritage and creative power from the hands of Thai artists will be elevated and developed to compete with pride on an international level. This new route is indeed very challenging," stated Mr Itthiphol.
"Thai artists from different generations in different fields are expressing and passing on their inspiration. Some of them have already stepped into the digital universe, while others are only just embarking on this journey. They're growing consistently, fuelled by the fire of creativity, to learn and adapt, and move forward in this digital world. They will continue to inspire the younger generations and be their role models, not only in the art circle but in other aspects as well."
Among the big names are Thawan Duchanee, Pratuang Emcharoen, Prof Emeritus Prayad Pongdam, Prof Emeritus Preecha Thaothong, Tawee Ratchaneekorn, Inson Wongsam and Woranan Chachawalthipakorn.
