For the first time ever, the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO) is reaching out to invite members of the community to play with the orchestra during "Side By Side With The Thailand Phil" at Prince Mahidol Hall in Mahidol University, Salaya campus, on Saturday at 4pm.

In this musical extravaganza, chief conductor Alfonso Scarano and guest conductor Akkrawat Srinarong will lead over 200 musicians from all over Thailand and beyond, including special guests from the Thai Youth Orchestra, in a programme of fun and familiar music.
The audiences will be delighted with a score of orchestral favourites such as the Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saëns and selections from Gustav Holst's The Planets.
Also, take a musical tour of exciting music showcasing the styles of different countries with Jean Sibelius' Finlandia, Piotr Tchaikovsky's Marche Slave, Johann Strauss's Kaiser-Walzer and Danzón No.2 by Arturo Márquez.

Finally, listen to the wildly popular film scores from Star Wars and Pirates Of The Caribbean performed live by a huge orchestra.
Scarano has become chief conductor of the TPO for the fifth season after having served as guest conductor for six consecutive seasons since 2011.
Besides his position in Bangkok, the Italian conductor regularly conducts worldwide orchestras including the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra in Israel, Orquestra Sinfonica de Porto Alegre in Brazil, and the New Russia State Symphony Orchestra in Moscow.
After a successful performance of Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole with the TPO three years ago, the violinist/conductor/songwriter Akkrawat will return to Prince Mahidol Hall with a baton for this exciting new initiative.
He is the first recipient of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana Classical Music Funds in 1997 and his musical versatility led him to performances in six continents over three decades.
