Acclaimed flautist to play at Sala Sudasiri Sobha

To mark its 10 anniversary, Sala Sudasiri Sobha is hosting a recital by rising star flautist Chonchanok Sophonpanich, on Sunday at 4pm.

This is the first in a concert series that aims to promote young Thai talent and will feature a variety of music from classical to romantic sonata and contemporary pieces.

The repertoire includes Mozart's Andante And Rondo, Franz Doppler's Fantasy On Themes from Verdi's Rigoletto for 2 flutes and piano, Gabriel Fauré's Fantasy for flute and piano, and Sonata Undine, the virtuosic romantic sonata by Carl Reinecke.

Also featured will be Honami For Flute Solo by Wil Offermans and Romance for flute and piano by Aaron Stewart.

Chonchanok is the most recent Thai student to be accepted at Purcell School for Young Musicians, the world-renowned music school for children in the UK.

He earned second prize at the Siam Ratchada flute competition and the Purcell School Middle School Concerto Competition. He has played at many venues in the UK including Saint John Smiths Square, Cadogan Hall and St Albans Cathedral.

For the upcoming show, he will be accompanied on flute by Boonya Nakdee, a flute and piano instructor at the International School Bangkok Music Program; and on piano by Pana Yontararak, son of Silapathorn artist Nat Yontararak.

Tickets cost 700 baht (350 baht for students) and can be purchased from salasudasirisobha.com. Sala Sudasiri Sobha is on Lat Phrao 41 yaek 7-2. An ATK test is required before entering the event.
