The interplay of art and meaning, ambiguity and self-discovery, is presented through brushstrokes in "Stage Fright", which is running at Richard Koh Fine Art until Sept 2.

On display is a captivating collection of thought-provoking paintings by Wantaya Thitipaisal, a self-taught artist who often touches on the mundanity of everyday life and complex socio-political issues.

His latest body of work, crafted over the course of a year, will take viewers into the profound intricacies of ambiguity and self-negotiation while exploring the impact of privacy on human relationships.

The artist skilfully blurs the lines between public exposure and private censorship, inviting everyone to contemplate the delicate balance of decision-making in uncertain circumstances.

The subject matter of this show revolves around the complexities of day-to-day interactions, ranging from gossip and rumours to cultural myths, social constructs, virtues and introspective acts of self-reflection, penance, remorse and repentance.

A fusion of abstraction and figuration, this series of works exudes a touch of postmodern sensibility, drawing inspiration from actual events, places and everyday experiences.

The symbolic use of stages acts as a foundation for the artworks, manifesting as platforms, walls, cage-like structures, fences and floors. Despite their diverse forms, each step symbolises a space to stand on, meticulously arranged as dioramas with focused lights casting an evocative glow upon them.

Richard Koh Fine Art is on the 9th floor of Peterson Building, Sukhumvit, between sois 26 and 28 and opens Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 7pm.
