MRT commuters can now enjoy memorable moments as vibrant art is being showcased during "Metro Art: Heart At Ease" at MRT Phahon Yothin station until the middle of January next year.
This is the third series of the successful "Metro Art: The Inspiring District" project initiated by Bangkok Expressway and Metro in collaboration with Bangkok Metro Networks. It has turned the underground area of MRT Phahon Yothin station into a space for new artists to showcase their works and for commuters to enjoy.
The new series is more special than the previous two as it presents exhibitions by five emerging young artists who wish to warm every heart with their adorable characters presented through dolls, figurines, paintings and wood carvings.
They include "The Missing Island" by Thapanapong Wanpanom aka Sabart, a street artist who has worked with many leading brands; "Grocery – Shopping Therapy" offering cute items and goodies by creative artist ByBamBam; and "Good Dream" featuring pop art by Mariko Toey.

The other two exhibitions are "Happy Journey" which showcases 30 wood carvings featuring the character of a little girl called Anchan by Parn Aniwat whose lovely pieces from his "Wood You Mind" series have earned him a name in the US; and "Playground" by Korean artist Chung Dian who uses graphic design to depict characters of modest charm without colourful decorations.
There are painting workshops and art activities every week throughout the year while an additional showcase of human and animal portraits by the International Watercolor Society Thailand will take place from October to December.
Art lovers are invited to express their creativity on the surface of lifestyle products such as a cloth bag, a bottle and a mirror at the "Paint Here Alright" zone presented by Galleria Benetti. There will also be an art market, and live music by emerging and established musicians.
