To celebrate its fifth anniversary, Virtuosi Thailand will deliver an evening concert titled "Mendelssohn Octet" at Neilson Hays Library, Surawong Road, on Aug 1 at 7.30pm.

Hailed as the country's finest young-generation string ensemble, Virtuosi Thailand will be performing String Octet In E flat Major which was written for four violins, two violas and two cellos by Felix Mendelssohn when he was only 16.

Hailed as one of the miracles of 19th century music, the work created a new chamber music genre. It was also one of the first works of Mendelssohn to be well received.

This is the very same masterpiece Virtuosi Thailand rendered at their first charity debut back in 2019. They will also perform other pieces for this musical and heartwarming treat.

This time around, however, the group's three founding members -- Toto Jirajet, Amon Chawin and Kye Teesin -- will be joined by five young Thai classical musicians who have recently succeeded in their higher music degrees from prestigious conservatoires in Europe. They are Note Nipakorn, Part Patis, Joy Tanika, Remi Arlene and Ai Chayuth.

Aiming to reach out to new Thai audiences, the ensemble presents classical masterpieces with modern and extremely emotional nuances.

Tickets cost 950 baht (850 baht for members and 500 baht for students) and can be purchased from neilsonhayslibrary.org.
