In The Trunk, South Korean heartthrob Gong Yoo plays a music producer who, believing he can never fall in love again after his divorce, hires a contractual wife for a year to fill the void. The romantic thriller rocketed to the number one spot on Netflix's top TV shows not long after its release.
While The Trunk's plot and storyline develops at quite a slow pace, it's Gong Yoo himself who has carried the eight-episode series to the top spot. Apart from addressing the institution of marriage, the series is also outstanding for its thriller element when a mysterious trunk is found at a crime scene, which leads to a secret behind the fake marriage business.
For new fans, here are some other Gong Yoo films and series worth checking out. All are available on Netflix.
