In celebration of its remarkable 40th anniversary, River City Bangkok presents two special exhibitions that offer a profound exploration of its storied legacy and enduring achievements -- a gateway to the world of art.
Following its grand celebration that took place last week, the art centre invites everyone to a historical exhibition, "Ad Astra Per Aspera: Through Hardships To The Stars", that will take them on a journey back 40 years to Dec 1, 1984, when River City Bangkok was born out of the visionary dream of Adisorn Charanachitta, the founder of Thailand's first riverside antiques centre.
Running at RCB Artery on the 1st floor until Jan 12, the exhibition showcases the story of its inception, featuring an array of personal and historical artefacts, including letters, journals, personal belongings and the private notes of Adisorn.
These pieces illuminate the foundation of what began as River City Shopping Complex and its revolution into the esteemed art and cultural hub known today as River City Bangkok.
The second exhibition brings together the works of over 40 talented artists, all showcased under the unifying theme of "Before Sunrise", at RCB Galleria 2-3 on the 2nd floor, until Jan 5. The artists come from seven renowned galleries -- La Lanta Fine Art, MeArt Gallery, Number1gallery, Pagoda the Art Club, Tang Contemporary Art, Trendy Gallery and River City Bangkok.
The concept symbolises hope and the profound beauty of emerging from darkness into light, mirroring the journey of resilience and growth.
The exhibition serves as a tribute to River City Bangkok's four-decade-long odyssey, celebrating its enduring legacy and the brighter horizons that lie ahead. Each artwork is a testament to the power of perseverance and the promise of a new dawn, perfectly encapsulating the spirit of this milestone.
