Fabric handicrafts from five Asean countries will be unveiled during an exhibition which will kick off at Siam Paragon on Thursday.

Held under the theme "Conserve the Asean Handicrafts, Proud to Be One", the 5th "Identity of Siam" exhibition explores the similarity and diversity of valuable craft arts from Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Laos at the 1st floor Fashion Hall and 2nd floor Lifestyle Hall of Siam Paragon from Jan 16-20.

The fabric crafts on show boast unique patterns and exquisite woven techniques, reflecting the harmony and cultural connection between Asean countries. They are categorised into two main groups _ batik fabrics from Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia; and woven fabrics from Thailand, Myanmar and Laos.

Fabric craft masters from the five nations will also be present to share their experience and showcase their masterpieces. Demonstrations and a selection of handicraft products from each country will be available for sale under the same roof.

Another highlight is a showcase of masterpieces by Thai craft masters. Visitors will also learn about the Support Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand's (Sacict) role in promoting Thai handicrafts through an exhibition.

The five-day event is also a rare chance to shop for fine Thai handicraft products from over 30 shops that are recognised for their master-level craftsmanship. These include woven fabrics, batik, silverware, gold plates, home decoration items and apparel. There will also be stage performances showcasing the arts and culture of the participating countries.

The annual exhibition is organised by Sacict in honour of HM the Queen's gracious work promoting and reviving folk handicrafts production across the nation while preserving valuable national heritage.
