Silpakorn University’s Art Gallery is to host an exhibition of 84 photos snapped by artists from around the world; it is due to open on April 25.

All the exhibits were entries in “A Decade of the International Photographic Contest 2014”, which was held late last year in memory of Prince Narisara Nuvadtivongs, a son of King Rama IV who was renowned for his artistic talents. Organised by Silpakorn University in collaboration with the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand and the Narisara Nuvadtivongs Foundation, the competition attracted 1,585 photos under the theme “My Place” submitted by 423 amateur and professional photographers from a host of countries including Thailand, Myanmar, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Iran, Cambodia, Japan, Norway, Poland and Bangladesh.

Of the 84 entries to be exhibited, 18 won awards. The overall winner of this year’s grand prize was a piece entitled When Finished The Daylight by Kyaw Kyaw Winn from Myanmar who also won the 2013 competition.

The exhibition will run from April 24 to May 5 at the Art Gallery on Silpakorn’s Wang Thaphra campus. The gallery is open on weekdays from 9am to 7pm and on Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.
