Calling all mountain bikers

One of the most-awaited mountain bike competitions, the International Chiang Mai Enduro (ICE) 2019 is set to take place from Nov 30 until Dec 1. Registration is now open.

This year, the Thai event is officially part of the Asia-Pacific Continental Series, of which the two other contests will take place in New Zealand in October and Australia in mid-November.

Riders participating in ICE 2019 will enjoy technical trails on Chiang Mai's legendary mountains Doi Suthep and Doi Pui, which make the northern city a mecca for mountain bikers from around the world, especially enduro riders and downhillers. The mountains make up much of the famous national park named after them.

The race fee is 4,800 baht per rider and covers uphill shuttles on practice days (Nov 28 and 29) and on competition days, pro-quality photos from the tracks during those four days, dinner during the closing ceremony and national park fees. Part of the sum will go to charity.

For participants who do not wish to bother with hotel booking, an accommodation package is also available. So are baggage benefits for those flying in with Thai Airways. Details can be found on ICE's web site.

The best overall riders of the Asia-Pacific Continental Series will be eligible to take part in the seven rounds of next year's Enduro World Series, which will be held in Europe and the Americas.
