The Mall goes meatless with 300 recipes

More than 3,000 vegetarian recipes from over 300 restaurants will be served during the Mall Legendary J-Fest, which will kick off tomorrow Sept 27 and run until Oct 7 in the Grand Hall of the Mall Bangkapi, as well as three other branches -- Tha Phra, Bangkae and Korat -- starting from SaturdaySept 28.

Held to mark the Mall's 20th anniversary in hosting the annual vegetarian festival, aka J festival, the 11-day event is an opportunity for those looking for healthy dishes and to indulge in a variety of meat-free menus. This year's highlight is a selection of 20 of the most delectable vegetarian dishes, nine of which are signature recipes from legendary shops and restaurants in Bangkok.

They include jui guay from Jui Guay at Talad Noi, eiw guay from Jay Giew Yaowarat, kanom chan from Kanom Chan Fa, gui chai of many flavours from Gui Chai Jay Toi at Chao Pho Suea Shrine, broiled cabbage with Chinese shiitake mushroom from Plaeng Nam, deep-fried tofu from Tao Hu Sawadee, curry puffs from Khun Pu Talad Noi, snow taro from Jay Nee, and ganachai with mushroom from Yong Yu Gee 113.

The other 11 special dishes will be available exclusively at the festival as they are made from rare ingredients. They include khua kling from Kua Tiew, pumpkin fried rice from Ben Flavour, black tofu with chilli sauce from Rossaneh 155, snow mushroom curry with five coloured rice from J Suan Dok, stir-fried tofu with vegetable by Hua Seng Hong, and ginkgo wrapped with cabbage from Earw Thai Suki Boraan restaurant.
