The best of Japan is here for your enjoyment at "Sugoi Japan x The Mall Present Japan Food One 2019" at the Grand Hall, ground floor of The Mall Bangkapi from Friday to Sunday.
A new collaboration with the popular TV show Sugoi Japan, this Japanese food and travel fair will showcase the finest in authentic Japanese cuisine from top restaurants in Japan.
Highlights include buri, a popular firm white fish from Kagoshima; tenmusu (tempura shrimp rice ball), a Nagoya speciality; the Wagyu Bomb, a hamburger made with A5-grade beef; Omi Wagyu Steak; gyutan (grilled beef tongue), a traditional dish from Sendai; and matcha soft ice cream made using the finest Japanese green tea.
The opening ceremony is on Friday at 3.30pm, followed by a demonstration on how to cut maguro (bluefin tuna) using a samurai sword by master Yoshinori Izumi at 5pm and a gelato making demonstration by world champion Taizo Shibano at 5.40pm. There is also a chance to witness the country's first wagyu beef grilling show conducted by Masuo Chiba, founder of Kakunoshin, the first beef ageing school in Japan. The show will be held daily in the evening, along with more maguro cutting over the weekend.
For travel enthusiasts, Sugoi Japan host Hiro Sano, who has lived in Thailand for over 19 years, will be their guide for Japanese tourism throughout the event.
A range of booths will offer information about various travel opportunities in the Land Of The Rising Sun, including the wonders of the Tohoku region, special prices on travel packages and JR rail passes, as well as fun activities with a chance to win round trip tickets to Sendai.
There will also be a giant rice ball eating contest on Oct 27 at 3pm. The same day will see the appearances from Suparuj Taechatanont, aka Ruj The Star, and Sweat 16 who will share their travel experiences in Japan.
