Holiday party essentials

Like most holiday seasons (we have a few in Thailand), this is a time for celebration, a time for giving and getting together with friends and loved ones. Whether it's for a classy Christmas dinner with the grandparents and all the relatives or a rowdy night out with the pals on New Year's Eve, you're bound to have lots of parties and get-togethers. Though you may be looking forward to the parties, there may be things stressing you out: What if your friends choose to party at a place that's really far where traffic is horrible? What if you have multiple get-togethers on one day and can't go home for an outfit change between events? What if you have nothing to wear to all these parties but even if you did, you don't have the budget for it? 'Tis the season and at Guru we are all about reducing your stress. We've got stuff that can help you out.

Shock and horror... no, it isn't Halloween. It's the discovery that despite the overcrowded wardrobe, you have nothing to wear this season! Buying new clothes may be difficult since you are on a budget (having bought gifts for family and friends). Enter Bchu Runway, "the first 'Rent Wear Return' service in Thailand to deal in couture outfits". You rent the pick of the lot at a heavily-discounted price so you look slick, fly and totally gorg at the party so that everyone's jaws drop when you walk in. After the party, you return it so it doesn't take up space in your closet. The best thing about it is that your bank account doesn't suffer for a one-off outfit. While you can browse through their catalogue and rent online or via their app, available on iOS and Android, you can also choose to visit one of their two locations for fittings. They also have a personal stylist to help you achieve your look down to a T.

When you have afternoon tea with high-school friends and dinner with your fam before a night-out with a bunch of your buddies all on the same day and there isn't any time to go home and catch 40 winks between invites, don't stress. At Power Nap Lounge, you have four sleeping options, from a cozy bed to a hammock, as well as the duration of your nap. But they don't just offer you sleeping pods. If you need to take a shower to get yourself looking fresh for that next party, they've got you covered. And that is not all. If you're headed to a boozy event on an empty stomach and need something to soak up the alcohol, Power Nap Lounge also serves food. They also offer airport transfers for those who need to get some shut-eye on actual comfy beds instead of airport floors or seats. Promotions start at B990, which runs until the year-end, but if you're still reading this piece then good news: you'll be avail this promo until Mar 31, 2020! All you have to do is show this article.

U DRINK I DRIVE

UDrinkIDrive.co.th

The name of the service is pretty self-explanatory and it's a service I'm thankful Bangkok has. With Thailand's roads having been dubbed the deadliest in all of Southeast Asia last year by the World Health Organization, this service may be able to save a number of lives. The way it works is very simple. Download the app, available for Apple and Android users, book a driver who will then drive you in your car to your parties. As the night goes on and you chug down numerous drinks, you don't have to worry about endangering your life or the lives of others because you've got yourself a driver to worry about getting you from one party to another and safely back home at the end of the night. If you're worried about safety, the service promises insurance coverage by Asia Insurance. Additionally, they've also got female drivers so female customers can feel at ease when using the service. The price is fare-based starting at B500 for a 5km drive or less. If your plans include bar-hopping or night-club hopping, or whatever kind of hopping that involves a lot of drinking, consider using this service.

TAKE ME

Take-Me.co & Service.Take-Me.co

News flash: Traffic is bad in Bangkok (kidding... about the newsflash). If you find yourself stuck in the horrid traffic when headed to a party, consider yourself saved. Take Me is a genius service that will save you from traffic woes. When you book their service, they'll send a motorcycle with two people -- one to take you on the motorcycle to your destination and the other to drive your car there and patiently endure the traffic so you don't have to! It's a great way to be able to get out of Bangkok's traffic and get to the party while having the assurance that your car is safe. They don't have an app as of yet but you can go to their website where you can avail of the service. The downside is that the website is in Thai, but hopefully, they will release an app with an English option soon!
