The Okura Prestige Bangkok is accepting applications from young cooking talents across Thailand for its fourth annual cooking competition.

The programme, which was launched in 2017, aims to share with Thai youth a first-hand culinary knowledge in hotel industry.

It invites students, aged 18-25, studying in the fields of hospitality, kitchen and tourism industries at an accredited university or vocational cooking school to take part in the one-of-a-kind experience.

Entrants are required to accompany their application with a short cooking video to the Okura Prestige Bangkok by March 31.

Based on the cooking video and interview, only five applicants will be selected for the three-week training course, starting May 29, with master chef Shigeru Hagiwara at the hotel's Yamazato Japanese restaurant.

At the end of the three-week apprenticeship, they are to cook up signature dishes before the committee and serve their creations to distinguished guests and judges.

The top winner, which will be announced on June 19, will receive a nine-day educational trip to Hotel Okura Amsterdam's two Michelin-starred Ciel Bleu restaurant in the Netherlands. The prize also includes a round-trip air ticket, visa arrangements, travel insurance, accommodation and meals at the Okura Amsterdam (including at the world-acclaimed Ciel Bleu), a day trip in Amsterdam and pocket money -- all is valued at more than 100,000 baht.

The training sessions in the Netherlands are hosted by two-Michelin-starred Chef Onno Kokmeijer, who has been awarded the title SVH Meesterchef by the Dutch hospitality organisation Stichting Vakbekwaamheid Horeca.

Candidates are requested to submit their application with supporting documents to The Okura Prestige Bangkok before Mar 31 and post their cooking video by April 3.
