Humourising angst during the pandemic

It's not too far off to say there are Line stickers that befit every step of our lives. From annual festivities and daily activities to the latest slang and trends, Line stickers capture and reflect them all in the form of cute characters we can send to one another to express ourselves. And, of course, the Covid-19 outbreak is no exception.

Many Thai creators have responded to the pandemic by releasing timely stickers we need. Familiar, cute characters we have used daily now don face masks just as we do. These characters are seen in new actions, such as checking their temperature, wondering if they are infected, working from home, barricading themselves behind a wall of toilet paper, and many more. Many of them encourage users to wash hands, practise self-isolation, and observe social distancing with a sense of humour.

There's a lot of variety to choose from. For the lovesick who want cheesy and funny pick-up lines to use during the pandemic, there is Covid In Love by Meritt Creation. Users can now buy the sticker set to send messages like "I'm scared of Covid. Can I self-quarantine in your heart?" and "They found nothing when they checked my lung. They found only you when they checked my heart".

Some sticker sets happen to imitate real life almost too well that we don't know whether to laugh or cry. Ms. Covid-19 Fighter by Fastbeam depicts a figure wearing scrubs screaming she's running out of face masks. Other stickers in the set also show this medical professional being sleep deprived, and even passing out. There's also the Mr. variation of the same sticker set with a male character.

Some of the stickers are also made specially to raise funds for the Covid-19 relief. There's the CP x Dogplease Fighting Covid-19 set, which is a collaboration between CP and Mha Ja (Dogplease), an artist known for drawing cute cartoon dogs. Every download will contribute a donation of 30 baht towards purchasing necessary medical equipment for hospitals.

Line Thailand also partnered with eight creators to release its official Line Stickers: Be Healthy to encourage people to take care of their health. All proceeds after expenses will be given to the Thai Red Cross.
