Neilson Hayes Library book sale is back
Even though the outbreak of Covid-19 barred Neilson Hays Library from holding its bi-annual book sale in May, it has finally come up with a new version which might be on a smaller scale but lasts much longer.
Running for a full month from 9.30am to 5pm every day (except Mondays) until July 26, the ongoing "Neilson Hays Library Book Sale" is being held inside the garden café which, due to its limited space, encourages local bookworms, expats and tourists alike to come and look for their favourite fiction and non-fiction books more often. The library will replenish books daily as space opens up on the tables.
The second-hand books on sale are of all genres and in English but a selection of other languages is also available. All of them are donated by library supporters or just withdrawn from the library shelves.
Prices start at 20 baht, with a few rare books going at market value. Visitors are advised to bring their own bags in order to help reduce waste. Otherwise, Neilson Hays Library tote bags can be purchased from the cashier.
All proceeds from sales of the books will go towards the upkeep of the landmark building and the library's educational and arts programmes. To contribute to the sale, those who have unwanted books can drop them off at the library.
However, only 10 visitors will be allowed inside the café at a time and they are subject to follow the strict measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Neilson Hays Library is on Surawong Road. Visit neilsonhayslibrary.org or call 02-233-1731.
