Street Food Asia

Asian countries are renowned for their street food. So Street Food Asia brings viewers to vibrant cities to explore the rich culinary culture available on the street side. The eight-episode series was created by the creator of Chef's Table. Cities featured in Street Food Asia include Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam, Seoul in South Korea, Osaka in Japan, Delhi in India, Cebu in the Philippines and Singapore. Of course, not to be missed in the documentary is Bangkok featuring Michelin-starred Jay Fai and her world-famous crab omelettes.

Jason's Market Trails

The 13-episode documentary hosted by Jason Yeoh takes viewers to explore the life, food markets and street stalls around Malaysia. Yeoh is a Malaysian TV personality from the Asian Food Channel and is known for his down-to-earth approach when presenting his programmes. In Jason's Market Trails, viewers can join him in his morning rituals to wet markets -- a familiar sight in Thailand -- and learn more about local culture.

Flavorful Origins

Released last year on Netflix, the 20-part Mandarin-language documentary series delves into the delectable world of Chaoshan cuisine in China. All elements vital to Chaoshan cuisine as well as the people behind them are featured in the series including preserved olives, noodles, marinated crab, seaweed, oysters, tofu cake, fish sauce and many more.

Solitary Gourmet Series

Now if you are into Japan, this series is your thing. Solitary Gourmet Series is not a documentary per se but it follows Japanese furniture salesman Goro Inogashira as he roams alone on business and samples an array of Japanese delicacies along the way. With the first and second season now streaming, Solitary Gourmet Series has an interesting storyline which is based on the Japanese cuisine manga series written by Masayuki Qusumi.
