Lunching, the Zuma way

Contemporary Japanese at its best

In Bangkok, we are spoilt for choice with the new lunch deals, especially in these times. Zuma Bangkok's Inari lunch deal offers an informal dining experience created around the traditional Japanese izakaya style of dining.

The Inari lunch menu (B790++) offers a wide variety of choices and great value for money. Each lunch set begins with miso soup as an appetiser and then you are free to choose two starters from a choice of eight. I tried the Chef's selection sashimi, which came with tuna, salmon and yellowtail, though the selection changes depending on the catch. The Thinly sliced seabass with yuzu, truffle oil and salmon roe was a hit with me, mainly because I love yuzu. Also on offer are Salmon and avocado maki rolls, Black cod and prawn gyoza, Tomato with roasted eggplant and ginger dressing or the Chef's selection nigiri.

The one choice of main accompanied by Japanese rice is from a choice of nine, though a few cost extra. The Spiced lamb cutlets with hatcho miso was a good choice and went well with the additional order of Sweet corn with shiso butter (B200). You could also go for the Japanese wagyu A4 grade (110g) with signature sauces for an additional B950.

However, the one must-order side dish is the Steamed spinach with sesame sauce (B200++) and the Spicy fried tofu with avocado and Japanese herbs (B390++). Do make sure you save room for the decadent special Special chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream (B490++), which is actually a lava cake filled with spouting caramel sauce. So delicious even my dress had some!
