A collection of 128 original works and memorabilia by Andy Warhol will be showcased at the RCB Galleria, 2nd floor of River City Bangkok, Charoen Krung 24, from Aug 12 to Nov 24.

Titled "Andy Warhol: Pop Art", this is the first time that an international collection of original works of this scale and significance will be brought to the Kingdom to allow Thai audiences to learn about the distinct life story of this American pop artist whose iconic images have been exhibited in museums all over the world.

The exhibition will present four categories of his works -- self-portraits and photos; celebrity portraits; magazine and album covers; and silk-screen prints and others. Portraits include Marilyn (1984) and Liz Taylor (1971). Other works include Interview magazine covers and Campbell's Soup Cans (1967).

All the pieces on show are from the private collection of Gianfranco Rosini, an Italian born into a family passionate about art. Immersed in the circle of gallery owners and art dealers, he met many well-known celebrities and artists including Judy Garland's daughter Liza Minnelli who introduced Rosini to Warhol in Rome. Also, expect to see a portrait of Liza by Warhol in this exhibition.

Warhol was a successful magazine and ad illustrator who became a leading artist of the 1960s pop art movement. He blurred the lines between fine art and mainstream culture with his unique style at a time of increased public appetite for advertising, filmmaking and celebrity culture.

The exhibition can be viewed daily from 11am to 8pm on weekdays and 10am to 8pm on weekends and public holidays. Early-bird tickets cost 300 baht (200 baht for seniors and students) and can be purchased from ticketmelon.com/rivercitybangkok/andywarhol until Aug 11.
