Four renowned authors and illustrators from four countries will present various aspects of modern children's picturebooks during an online talk series titled "Open World Through Children's Picturebooks" from today to Aug 25.

Organised by Thailand Knowledge Park (TK Park) with the aim to enhance understanding about the power of picturebooks and the art of illustrations which can lead to imaginative learning for children, the event will feature four topics which will be discussed by each speaker on four separate days. The talks will be livestreamed on TK Park's Facebook page and its YouTube channel as well.

The speakers include Prof Martin Salisbury, a British author, illustrator and professor of illustration from Cambridge School of Arts; Emilie Vast, a French artist, author and children's book illustrator; Kazuma Anezaki, a Japanese author and nature photographer; and Kanchala Navanugraha, a Thai author and founder of Nava Publishing House who brought books from Finland to Thai children.

The topics include:

■ "Opening Eyes Through Children's Picturebooks" by Prof Martin Salisbury, today at 3.30pm. He will open our eyes and minds to the evolution of picturebooks for children in a world full of environmental problems and human migration.

■ "Rhythm Of Nature In Picturebooks" by Emilie Vast on Aug 18 at 2pm. She will share her passion for creating picturebooks using graphic design with bright and bold colours to stimulate children's interest in plants and animals.

■ "Creating Children's Stories Through Photographs" by Kazuma Anezaki on Aug 24 at 2pm. He will present a unique style of storytelling using various photographs of plants as main characters.

■ "Children's Books Outside The Box" by Kanchala Navanugraha on Aug 25 at 2pm. She will share her experience and impression on unique, outside-the-box children's books which are popular among children in Finland, a country with a world-class educational model.

The first three talks will have Thai interpretation and the last will be conducted in Thai.
