Nova Contemporary art gallery has been transformed into a cafe/eatery in a bid to challenge social norms as part of "Breast Stupa Cookery: The World Turns Upside Down" which is running until Nov 21.

For the first time in an exhibition format, the collaborative art project is presented by Pinaree Sanpitak, one of Thailand's most prominent female artists whose large-scale installations of breast-stupa sculptures are being exhibited at the 100 Tonson Foundation until next April.

She bridges the social collective with gastronomy and art for this project by shining a light on the depths of food both as a medium of art as well as a connective thread for human relationships.

The cafe presents selected confectionery specially created by Thai and Japanese patissiers to eat on the premises or for takeaway. They include cookies by Katayama Chiffon, ice cream from Yora, popsicle from Chimp Tim, and French-style desserts from Mad Sugar, amongst others.

Matching beverages are presented by the One Ounce For Onion cafe. All food and drinks are served on ceramic plates and bowls designed and created especially for this event by artists.

Meanwhile, chefs Napol "Joe" Jantraget and Saki Hoshino from the Michelin-starred 80/20 restaurant will offer their seven-course dinner menu based on the concept of women, femininity and breasts, with a pairing of wine. The dinner will be served on Oct 30 and Nov 7 at 6pm and 8pm at the price of 4,000 baht per person. Seats are limited to 15 diners per time slot and reservations are required

Nova Contemporary is on the ground floor of Baan Somthavil, Soi Mahadlek Luang 3, Ratchadamri Road, and opens every Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 7pm.
