Amazing Thailand City Run. The Tourism Authority of Thailand

To add some fun and colour to your weekend, get a group together and join the Amazing Thailand City Run Challenge.

The event is organised every weekend during November and December by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). It aims to encourage city people to stay active as well as to promote its 60th anniversary.

The city run combines physical movement with location-based technology and augmented reality (AR). The idea is like playing an AR game, such as Pokémon Go. Participants need to download the District app on their mobile phones and use it to navigate through the city to collect points.

The locations include major streets such as Khao San Road, Rama IV Road or Silom Road. The route will be changed every week. Each participant needs to walk or run to find 40 checkpoints to win 7,000 points.

The locations include 29 places that have TAT's mascot Nong Sukjai, seven stops for taking a quiz and another four stops for a time-trial challenge.

The race is open to all for free and not limited to age. Registration is open every Monday. The race runs from 5am to 8pm. Those who receive at least 2,500 points will receive gifts including jackets, T-shirts and singlets.

The event is organised every weekend from now until Dec 27. TAT expects the Amazing Thailand City Run will attract a total of 6,000 participants.
