Seacon Square on Srinakarin Road has transformed its Fountain Activity zone on the 1st floor into the ancient Shirakawago village, which is one of Unesco's World Heritage Sites, until Sunday.

Held in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan, the "Shirakawako" fair is an opportunity to explore the replicated winter atmosphere of this 250-year-old village, which is located in the north of Gifu Prefecture in Japan.

It's famous for picturesque snow-covered houses sitting in a valley and visitors will witness the houses' unique architectural style known as gassho tsukuri, which refers to a steep thatched roof that resembles two hands pressing together.

On show are replicas of three such houses as well as Myozenji Temple, which has the biggest thatched roof in the village.

The fair also lets visitors explore Takayama Old Town, another famous Japanese tourist attraction in the embrace of mountains where the water pipes are so clean koi fish live in them.

Exclusively for this event, there is a special zone where visitors can play with artificial snow right in the middle of the shopping centre. Idol bands will also take turns to perform on Friday to Sunday and there is a Sarubobo doll (Japanese amulet) workshop on the weekend.

Also expect to shop for Japanese souvenirs and indulge in Japanese cuisine at more than 70 shops presented in the ambience of Sanmachi Street, a shopping district known as Hida Takayama.

The fair will repeat at Seacon Bangkae, Phetkasem Road, from Dec 11-20.
