Bangkok Community Theatre will keep those stuck at home entertained during the new wave of the Covid-19 pandemic by presenting three evening online play readings on three consecutive Tuesdays from today to Feb 2 at 7.30pm, on Zoom.

All BCT members and guests are invited to take turns reading, or only listening and watching if they want, The Man Who Came To Dinner today. A 1933 comedy in three acts by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, the play is set in the small town of Mesalia, Ohio, in the weeks leading to Christmas in the late 1930s.

The exposition reveals that the famously outlandish New York City radio wit Sheridan Whiteside is invited to dine at the house of the well-to-do factory owner Ernest W. Stanley. But he slips and injures his hip upon entrance, ensuing in his comical recovery while being confined to the Stanleys' home. The second play reading will be The Visit, a 1956 tragicomic play by Swiss dramatist Friedrich Dürrenmatt, on Jan 26. This piercing, darkly comic story tells about a scorned woman's ultimate revenge, exploring what dark deeds a desperate man can be pushed to.

The last play reading will be Boeing-Boeing, a 1960s French farce by Marc Camoletti, on Feb 2.

Similar in vein to Shakespeare's comedies of merry misadventures and mistaken identities, the play tells the exploits of French bachelor Bernard and his lovely female flight attendants. Three flight attendants, to be exact, from three different countries -- and they all believe they're engaged to Bernard. Will the lying lothario be able to keep up this charade, or will a disaster occur?

In 1991, the play was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the most performed French play throughout the world.

The fun activities are for members and guests aged 16 years and older. They will receive a link to the Zoom meeting room after they make a reservation.
