ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

Lovers of cats and arts are invited to bid for nine cat figures painted by volunteer artists as part of the "Si Sawat Pun Sook" project to raise funds for stray animals.

Held by the P Pun Social Enterprise, the project is aimed to raise awareness on the long-overlooked problem of stray cats and dogs which number more than 164,000 in Thailand today. The number is on the increase due to the closure of many cat cafes following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Launched last September, the project was joined by Mindmelody, a famous creator of character models, who designed nine statues in the form of Korat cats in four different positions, using resin.

Then, nine artists volunteered to paint the statues in their own styles -- Toon Bodyslam, Koy Ratchawin, Stamp Apiwat, Peh MVL & Nong Korn, Oui Buddha Bless, Silly Fools, Peng Chanon & Nong Saimai, Binko and Tod Sahred Toy.

Standing around 50cm tall, all of the cat figures in vibrant colours are now available for online auction via Line Official Account @ppunse (visit lin.ee/8HuEqZn) until 4pm tomorrow.

All proceeds will go to the Tippimarn for Abandoned and Sickness Animals Foundation under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Chulabhorn (TASAF) in Nakhon Ratchasima.
