Contribute to people in need

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

Year two of the pandemic and families and individuals are still facing financial insecurity. Lend a hand by donating to these organisations, who provide assistance to those facing economic hardship and medical issues.

National Blood Center, Thai Red Cross Society

Charity is more than donating money and materials. Sometimes, it's also about donating blood, as the latest wave of Covid-19 has lowered blood reserves even further. The National Blood Center at the Thai Red Cross Society has encouraged the public to donate blood, in a safe environment. To find out where you can donate blood, visit blooddonationthai.com/?p=21300 (in Thai only).

Covid Thailand Aid

Help Covid Thailand Aid to reach its goal of raising B2 million in its second campaign to help vulnerable people (the elderly, individuals with disabilities, the homeless, low-income families and refugees). Last year the non-profit organisation was able to help 88,400 people in 37 provinces, with B3.5 million in donations.

A 100% of the money donated goes towards care packages with a week’s worth of food, meals for the homeless and unemployed people, emergency assistance for medical professionals on the front-line, education for children in rural areas and others badly in need of help, like flood victims.

If you wish to contribute non-monetary donations, the goods you send will be added on to the care packages, which consist of dry food, general medicine and hygiene products.

Foundation For Children (FFC)

Among the many communities that have been hit hard by the latest wave is the Talad Nong Khaem Community. Now that the area has been classified as a red zone, the Foundation For Children is helping them out with care packages containing a 5kg bag of rice, condiments and seasoning, eggs, instant noodles, canned foods and milk. You can support the foundation through monetary donations. B600 is enough for one care package. If you prefer to contribute goods, the foundation is accepting adult and children's diapers, milk powder for infants between the ages of six months and three years, hand sanitisers and masks. Monetary donations can be made via SCB account 115-2-14733-0. For goods donations, call 02-814-1481--7.

SOS Rescue Kitchen by Scholars of Sustenance Thailand

To combat food wastage, Scholars of Sustenance Thailand has set up the SOS Rescue Kitchen, which helps to "rescue" unsold, safe-to-consume produce, that would have been otherwise disposed of by supermarkets and other businesses. SOS volunteers use refrigerated trucks to collect the produce and take it to kitchen. The goods are then turned into meals, which are distributed to six low-income communities around Bangkok on the same day they are cooked. Meal deliveries are done three to five times a week and so far, the organisation has been able to provide meals to 9,500 people. Donate via Scholars of Sustenance's SCB account 030-273178-9.

Ped Thai Su Pai

The results of a Covid test is usually received the day after the test is done. In those in-between hours, few self-quarantine. To reduce the instances like this, Ped Thai Su Pai, by the Thailand Tech Startup Association, is encouraging individuals who have a high risk of potential infection to avoid going home after their sample extraction and instead stay at designated isolation facilities. However, not everyone can afford the overnight stay at such facilities, so Ped Thai Su Pai is collecting funds to allow high-risk individuals to be able to spend the night in isolation at the facilities for free. Every B500 collected will provide one person a one-night stay. Visit taejai.com/en/d/pedthaisupai to donate. The foundation has a few other good causes that need funding, too.
