Ice cream with spirit
Yora meets Fin Wine
Fin Wine (Fabulous is Needed), Thailand's first purveyor of organic, biodynamic artisan wines have collaborated with Yora ice cream from pastry chef Saki Hoshino on limited edition flavours.
"We chose to do wine and ice cream because I love ice cream so, so much and wanted to do a wine and ice cream pairing. With everyone being bored at home eating ice cream and drinking wine, we wanted to make a Covid-era activity a more pleasant one," says Nuttiya "Lily" Wisootsat, assistant director of Fin Wine.
The artisan ice creams are made with seasonal fruits, natural ingredients and a heavy-handed dose of organic wine from Fin Wine's portfolio. "We looked at what fruits are in season and what wine we feel is underrated that people haven't really tried and made an experience out of it," says Lily. Keeping with the fun and funk of Yora, Lily also designed stickers for Fin Wine X Yora with bottle illustrations in the background.

The first ice cream from the collab is "Wine Pear-ring", a sorbet of caramelised Chinese pear poached in a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon from Bordeaux, France, and a touch of cinnamon. The fresh ingredients are local, sustainably-sourced and vegan-friendly. Wine Pear-ing was created with half the recipe being wine and for the sorbet to be paired with wines for an enhanced experience. (More details at fb.com/FabulousIsNeeded).
Wine Pear-ring comes in two sizes: a cup for B120 and a pint for B450. Sets are also available: a set of three cups and a bottle of wine is B1,350 (from B1,680), and a set of 1 pint and bottle of wine is B1,440 (from B1,770). A bottle of dessert wine (375ml) or a Riesling (750ml) is B1,100 (from B1,320).
