After a fiery red, Hublot has once again worked its magic with coloured high-tech ceramic.

Radiant and optimistic, the new Yellow Magic matches Pantone's Colour of the Year 2021, named Illuminating.

It was previously thought impossible to make ceramic in such a vivid hue but the Swiss watchmaker has reproduced the cheerful colour for the standout Big Bang Unico Yellow Magic watch.

Hublot's metallurgy and materials laboratory and its research and development department are behind the innovative material, which is harder than traditional ceramics and also available in blue, beige and green.

It took four years to find the perfect balance of temperature and pressure that enables the ceramic to be sintered without burning the pigments. Besides retaining the pigments' properties and the colourimetry, the process increases the wear resistance of the ceramic.

Limited to 250 pieces, the 42mm Big Bang Unico Yellow Magic shines with a polished yellow ceramic case and bezel while the caseback contrasts in micro-blasted black ceramic.

The flange, indexes, minute and seconds counters, Arabic numerals and hands are all in this sunny shade, to highlight the mechanism of the Unico HUB1280 manufacture movement and its column wheel, visible on the dial side through the sapphire crystal.

The lined and structured rubber strap is also dressed in the same sunny yellow for a feel-good watch.
