Art camp for kids to teach foundation skills

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

Paron School of Art is holding a "Christmas Art Camp" to get kids crafty and take home handmade gifts for family and friends.

Designed for children aged four to 12, this is a five-day in-studio workshop to introduce foundation skills in drawing, painting, printing, sculpture and craft-based processes and guide them into building and structuring ambitious art projects across a well-punctuated sequence of activities.

The young students will engage in age-appropriate art fun, creating Thai rattan structures repurposed as Christmas wreaths, building materials brought to life as Nutcracker puppets and combining Thai and Western herbs and spices to create a spin on scented Christmas candles.

They will also learn key ideas behind character design, pattern-based design, costume and architecture design, reference colourful ideas behind selected world cultures and famous artists including Kandinsky, Matisse and Alexander McQueen and most importantly, make friends in small class bubbles under safe practices.

They will finish the camp week with personalised masterpieces, including five hand-printed greeting cards, two handmade gifts and decorations for their homes.

The art camp is divided into two age groups -- Mini Monet (four to six years) and Progressive Picasso (seven to 12 years). It will take place from Dec 13 to 17, Dec 20 to 24, and Dec 27 to 31, from 9.30am to 11.30am for Mini Monet and 10am to 3pm for Progressive Picasso.

The fee is 4,900 baht for Mini Monet and 9,500 baht for Progressive Picasso.
