A selection of artworks from the inaugural "Pulse Awards: Art Of Life" are being exhibited at Pulse Gallery, Mahatun Plaza, Phloenchit Road, daily from 9.30am to 6.30pm, until Feb 28.
This is a striking and thought-provoking exhibition which features 10 winning works and another 15 works that made it to the final round of the competition, which received more than 70 entries from across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.
The competition was held by Pulse Clinic with the aim to raise awareness on the importance of sexual health, remove social stigma towards the LGBTI community, and normalise society's attitudes towards sex and sexuality.
All 25 works on display are in five categories -- painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics and digital art, offering physical, emotional cultural, and spiritual interpretations of the theme "Sexual Health Matters".
They were picked for their strong narratives that speak to the theme by the five-member international jury who were impressed by the conversations and stories they deliver.
The jury is comprised of Loredana Pazzini-Paracciani, a scholar and curator of Southeast Asian contemporary art; Richard Koh, founder of Richard Koh Fine Art and Richard Koh Projects; Wasinburee Supanichvoraparch, of Tao Hong Tha Ceramics and a leading Thai artist; Lisa Botos, a curator, art advisor and cultural strategist; and Dr Natthakhet Yaemim, founder and CEO of Pulse and initiator of the Pulse Awards.
