Alliance Française Bangkok will open up its space on Saturday for the European Tourism and Gastronomy Fair 2022, a public event to showcase the great hospitality and culinary diversity of Europe.

The event is organised by Alliance Française, the Franco-Thai cultural centre, in partnership with the Embassy of France to Thailand, the European Union in Thailand, and the embassies and chambers of commerce of Belgium, Finland, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania and Spain.

The centre's reception hall, auditorium and garden patio will be turned into a multicultural arena and welcoming hodophiles, epicures as well as xenophiles of all things European.

Being held for the first time, the event will feature more than 30 exhibitors, including tourism professionals who will offer information and previews of various destinations and holiday experiences to both vacationers and traders.

Vagabonds can expect to learn more about Romania's Black Sea to the Carpathian Mountains as well as its gothic castles, stunning scenery and wildlife; and Luxembourg's Unesco-listed World Heritage capital city and its picturesque natural surroundings ideal for camping and hiking, to name just a few.

F&B connoisseurs are meanwhile promised a hodgepodge of favourite European dishes, desserts and drinks, including Italian risotto and pasta, Spanish charcuterie, Belgian chocolate, waffles and beer and a vast variety of French cheeses.

New dishes to be discovered during the event include hameschmier, a Luxembourg styled open-face toasted sandwich; lihapullat, Finnish meatballs; and mucenici, a traditional Romanian pastry -- all presented by their native masters.

Among the participants will be Bangkok-based top European restaurants, fine food producers as well as leading wine companies.

The European Tourism and Gastronomy Fair 2022 will take place from 10am-4pm on Saturday at Alliance Française Bangkok on 179 Witthayu Road. For online registration, visit afthailande.org or call 02-670-4200 for more information.
