The son of a dressmaker, Chavanon Caisiri knows how precise measurement is important in couture.

A giant measuring tape unfolds in an art installation, which is a collaboration between his fashion house Poem and Gaysorn Village. Titled Made To Measure Magic, the installation begins at Gaysorn Walk and snakes into the atrium of the lifestyle urban village.

Lamps covered by white net fabric illuminate the installation, which winds up to Artisan Lane on the 3rd floor and continues to the bridge connecting Gaysorn Tower.

"The measuring tape is essential in tailoring, and the installation compares to the path -- designing, choosing fabric, measuring the body and sewing -- in creating garments,'' said Chavanon, who founded Poem in 2006.

The fashion label reinterprets French dressmaking tradition and integrates it with contemporary production to create modern, glamorous, ready-to-wear pieces while recreating the classic silhouette for the smaller figure of Asian women, of which the measuring tape is crucial for achieving the perfect fit.

Until Oct 31, the Made To Measure Magic art installation is another episode of Gaysorn Village's "Retail Theatre" promoting art and culture and enhancing shopper experience.
