Chiang Mai National Museum is hosting "90 Vassa: Phuen Pa Hom La Phuen Pha Hom Muang", an exhibition in honour of the 90th birthday anniversary of HM Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, until Aug 31.
Organised by the National Archives In Commemoration Of HM The Queen's 90th Birthday Chiang Mai, the exhibition is to remember the Queen Mother's efforts in alleviating the hardships of people in all regions and initiating projects to promote better living in a healthy and sustainable environment.
The exhibition focuses on her royal duties in conserving natural resources and cultural legacies. They are presented under nine topics covering her roles in conserving and promoting Thai fabrics; developing knowledge and wisdom; maintaining national heritages; and improving the quality of life.
The highlights include a display of five distinctive textile patterns that are the identities of five northern provinces. They include "Swan In A Lantern (Hong Nai Kom)" pattern of Chiang Mai; "Pikul Flower" pattern on brocade of Lamphun; "Chiang Saen Black Swan" pattern of Chiang Rai; "Uoeng Sae" pattern of Mae Hong Son; and "Lakon Sai Moo" pattern of Lampang.
The Chiang Mai National Museum is open Wednesday to Sunday from 9am to 4pm. Visitors will receive an auspicious plant as a souvenir.
