After undergoing a massive facelift, Hong Kong's iconic Peak Tram has reopened to take travellers on a delightful journey to the Peak, where you can admire breathtaking views of Victoria Harbour and the skyline from 396m above sea level.

Opened 1888, the oldest funicular railway in Asia once attracted over 6 million visitors each year before halting operations last year. With a budget of US$102 million (3.7 billion baht), it now wears the classic Peak Tram Green in homage to its history and prior generations of tramcars.

It has increased its capacity by 75% and its wider windows provide an unimpeded, panoramic view of Hong Kong's world-famous cityscape as it ascends. In addition to its modern design, the terminus has been refurbished to provide passengers with an engaging and entertaining experience through five engagement zones, as part of the "Hong Kong New Adventures At Every Turn" campaign.

A 10m-tall sculpture Eye Of Infinity serves as a receptionist and greets visitors with a constantly evolving light display that reflects Hong Kong's spirit of ascent as visitors pass through the Central Terminus.

A journey continues with Go Wild At The Peak, where visitors can learn about the diverse wildlife at the Peak through a fully immersive visual display that wraps around them. The Beating Heart, An Icon Is Born and Once Upon A Tram bring the Peak Tram's centennial history to life.

The tram is open daily from 7am to 10pm. Tickets are HK$82 (383 baht) and HK$99 (463 baht) for adults. Visit thepeak.com.hk for further information.
