To mark the 45th anniversary of EU-Asean relations, the European Union is holding the "Asean-EU Cultural Festival 2022" to showcase the artistic excellence of the new generation from both continents, until Sunday.
Held under the "Youth Voices" concept, the festival presents films, music and art through on-site events in Bangkok, Jakarta and Phnom Penh as well as online events on its official website.
In Bangkok, two selected movies will be screened at Paragon Cineplex at Siam Paragon on Friday. The first is I Am Greta, a documentary film by Swedish film director Nathan Grossman depicting the story of Greta Thunberg, the globally known Swedish climate youth activist, at 4.45pm.
It will be followed by Barbarian Invasions, a popular film directed by Tan Chui Mui from Malaysia, at 7.45pm. Winner of Jury Grand Prix at Shanghai International Film Festival 2021, it reflects the struggle of a woman in a world dominated by men.
The festival also has an online music performance by new generation jazz artists. Vincent Peirani, a French jazz accordionist, vocalist and composer will collaborate with Joey Alexander, a young Indonesian jazz pianist and one of the youngest musicians ever to be nominated for a Grammy at the age of 12.
Also available for online viewing are two exhibitions.
"Butterflies Count Not Months But Moments, And Have Enough Time" is a virtual reality exhibition of VDO clips, poems, documentaries, animations and performances by eight youth artists from eight countries, while "45 Years Of Asean-EU Dialogue Relations" is a joint photo exhibition.
There is no admission fee but registration is required. Both the online concerts and exhibitions can be viewed until Sunday.
