Following its successful premiere last year, the "Julius Baer Next Generation Art Prize" returns for its second edition that extends the artist line-up beyond Southeast Asia to include China and India.

Organised by Julius Baer, a leading Swiss private wealth management group, the prestigious art competition aims to nurture young artistic talent across Asia and promote emerging voices, ideas and expressions that create impactful and meaningful art that defines and pushes the boundaries of the digital medium. It is open to artists aged 21 to 40 years residing in Greater China, India and Southeast Asia to submit concept proposals in a specialised digital medium of their choice -- from graphic image to videos, generative art, augmented or virtual reality, and interactive art.

Their proposals must address themes on sustainability or any of the next generation investment themes identified by Julius Baer, including arising Asia; digital disruption; energy transition; feeding the world; shifting lifestyles; future cities; and inequality. The submission deadline is Nov 27.

Around 100 applicants will be invited to participate in virtual sessions in January conducted by luminaries from the digital art world.

An esteemed panel of judges will choose six winners in March. Each of them will receive a US$10,000 (377,200 baht) cash prize and entry to a three-month art and tech accelerator programme during which they are required to develop their winning art concept to fruition.

The resulting artworks will be later showcased in a virtual and interactive art exhibition in July.
