Award-winning Italian guest chef Massimiliano Blasone from Mandarin Oriental Lago di Como in Italy will take over Ciao Terrazza at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, on Dec 1-15.

Hailing from the five-star fine dining restaurant L~ARIA at Lake Como, Blasone takes a new approach to Italian dining by giving his dishes a sophisticated Japanese twist.

Blasone had been trained under a number of the world's most celebrated cooking wizards including three-Michelin-starred chefs Heinz Winkler and Heinz Beck as well as Zuma's founder Rainer Becker. Thus his culinary creations have been significantly influenced by these associations.

At Bangkok's Ciao trattoria, he will work closely with the restaurant's chef de cuisine Dario Busnelli to present a special set dinner that allows guests to enjoy the same dishes he serves at Lake Como.

The special nine-course dinner menu, priced at 3,200 baht and 4,000 baht, showcases dishes such as maccheroncino pasta with Boston lobster, thyme, tomatoes and almond pesto; Iberico pluma pork with black truffle; and strawberries crostatina tart.
