In celebration of Social Work Month and World Social Work Day 2023, the Asean Training Centre for Social Work and Social Welfare is holding an international symposium on the theme "Human Security Is Global Security", at Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam, Phetchaburi Road on Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

The forum brings together social workers, practitioners, educators, representatives from government, NGO and INGO agencies, relevant stakeholders, thinkers, leaders and media to share knowledge and experiences of social work and development practices. The event encompasses various welfare-related activities that improve social work practices and strengthen the social work professions in Asean.

The symposium will open with keynotes delivered by Asean Prize award winner Suriyan Vichitlekarn; Kasit Piromya, former Foreign Affairs minister of Thailand; as well as representatives from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and the Asean Social Work Consortium.

A diverse group of speakers and participants will then address topics through a knowledge exchange/action platform comprising four concurrent sub-theme sessions.

They include Social Security For Human Security In The Paradigm Of Childcare Economy And Policy; Environmental Sustainability For Human And Global Security; Health Security For Global Security; and Financial Stability For Human Security.

The symposium of approximately 100 participants is a hybrid event combining on-site and online participation with a question-and-answer component as well as on-site interpreter.

There is no admission fee, but registration is limited and on a first-come-first-served basis.
