To promote environmental conservation and raise awareness about the impact of plastic among the people of Phuket and tourists, Jungceylon Patong in Phuket is holding "Solutions To Plastic Pollution", an extraordinary upcycled art exhibition at the Garden Zone, until June 30.
On display are artworks crafted from marine debris under the theme "Shout Out For Wild Ocean". The waste materials include over 100kg of debris collected from within the shopping centre and Patong Beach.
Visitors can marvel at the artistic renditions of marine creatures such as sea turtles, starfish, whales, octopuses and corals. The exhibition aims to instil a sense of awareness and encourage a reduction in the use of materials that contribute to the persistence of non-biodegradable plastic waste.
Exclusively on World Ocean Day, which falls on Thursday, there will be a special booth presented by the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation. It will feature unique items like eco-bags, turtle dolls and marine animal souvenirs. Also, prepare to join a workshop on how to make a turtle headband, free of charge.
All proceeds from the merchandise sales will go to support the foundation's ongoing efforts in marine turtle conservation and environmental initiatives.
