Lunar samples collected by China's Chang'e 5 spacecraft will be showcased in Thailand during the MHESI Fair which kicks off today and runs daily from 9am to 8pm until Sunday, at Hall 1-4, ground floor of Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Ratchadaphisek Road.
Organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the fair features cutting-edge space technology and a variety of activities under the "SCI Power For Future Thailand" concept.
A highlight of the fair is the "Empowering Thailand Through Frontier Research Presented By TCP Group" exhibition which showcases samples collected from the Moon's surface by Chang'e 5, a sample mission launched in late 2020 as part of the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program. This is also the first time it is being exhibited outside China.
The showcase is a collaboration between the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) and China National Space Administration.
The exhibition invites everyone to explore the world of space and discover the technological and innovative achievements derived from cutting-edge astronomical challenges.
They will enjoy learning about research and development of spacecraft technology, including high-precision telescopes, space technology, Thai-made research satellite prototypes, optical and photonic technology, mechatronics technology, radio wave and digital signal technology, atmospheric science and high-resolution manufacturing technology.
The exhibition aims to inspire and energise Thais to take an interest in science, technology and innovation through learning at NARIT's cutting-edge astronomical research.
