The beauty of Japanese tradition will be unveiled at two special events in Bangkok this week by Sakura Fujima School in collaboration with Soke Fujima.
The first is "Kimono Exhibition", which will take viewers into the world of exquisite Japanese artistry where tradition meets elegance. It will showcase a stunning collection of kimonos crafted by Chabatik, a renowned Thai silk manufacturer, alongside traditional Japanese kabuki costumes.
Participants will have a chance to try on a kimono and witness a demonstration on "kimono pulling", a captivating technique that brings the drama of kabuki to life.
Special for this occasion, Bizen ceramic ware by Hiroyuki Matsui will be displayed. This is a type of unglazed stoneware produced in the Bizen region of Japan. The pieces are fired by woods for 14 days under the traditional technique of 800 years.
The exhibition will take place on the 5th floor of Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, tomorrow, from 11am to 4pm. There is no admission fee.
Then, prepare to immerse in the graceful world of Soke Fujima-ryu Japanese dance during the "Japanese Classical Dance Recital" on Saturday at 2pm.
The recital features dancers of various nationalities and levels of experience. They will be adorned in magnificent kimonos brought directly from Japan. This performance is a rare opportunity to experience the beauty of Japanese classical dance, right here in Bangkok.
The venue is Asok-Montri Music and Performing Arts Hall 1 of Srinakharinwirot University, Sukhumvit 23.
Tickets to the show cost 300 baht and can be purchased at the door and from peatix.com/event/4029416/view.
