The Embassy of France and the Thai Animation and Computer Graphics Association are bringing back "Beyond Animation Festival", which kicks off today and runs until Sept 21, in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phayao provinces.
The 2024 edition will feature screenings, workshops, Q&A sessions, and opportunities for students and the general public to discover contemporary animated features.
They will also meet with the festival's guest of honour, French animator Juliette Peuportier, and learn about her training in animation, inspirations, and motivations for choosing this profession.
Animation fans will also have a chance to talk to one of the forces behind one of the films in this year's line-up, Mars Express, as well learn the differences between European animation and other animation schools around the world.
The main theatres for this year's screening of 15 feature films include House Samyan, Doc Club & Pub, Thai Film Archive, Alliance Française in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, and Muangthong Rama in Phayao.
The programme line-up includes The Most Precious Of Cargoes, No Dogs Or Italians Allowed, Chicken For Linda, Waltz With Bashir, Robot Dreams, The Swallows Of Kabul and The Island. All feature films have English and Thai subtitles.
At least 13 short animations by French and Thai students will be screened at Alliance Francaise Bangkok on Sept 21 starting from 4.30pm to 6pm.
Ticket prices vary depending on each theatre. Booking can be made via linktr.ee/beyondanimation2024.
