New single / Mogwai
Mogwai has launched a new single “God Gets You Back” and announced a 2025 world tour. This follows the announcement and premiere of “Mogwai: If The Stars Had A Sound”, a documentary about the band directed by longtime collaborator Antony Crook. “God Gets You Back” arrives with a video and has lyrics by Barry Burns’ daughter. “The song needed some melody or vocals, but I couldn't come up with the lyrics so I asked my seven-year-old daughter to make some up, and she did and I sang them.” The 2025 tour takes in dates in Asia and North America, as well as a full UK/EU. Mogwai will partner with War Child for the tour, where a £1/€1/$1 charitable contribution will be made from every ticket sold. Mogwai play in Bangkok at Voice Space on March 8, 2025. Supported by the Embassy of Switzerland and the Swiss Cultural Fund Trailer, the fourth film of TK Park’s 2024 Contemporary World Film Series is “Tambour Battant” by François-Christophe Marzal. The film is in French with English subtitles. The Embassy of Switzerland will host a reception of snacks and drinks after the screening, while Ambassador Pedro Zwahlen will introduce the film. Vertigo Too at Banyan Tree Bangkok will host Jamun Restaurant from Goa, India for two nights this month. Chef Rahul Gomes Pereira, popularly known as chef Picu, is renowned for uplifting traditional Goan food and will be serving a five-course dinner sharing set menu. Tapori Bangkok will host Chef Jutamas “Som” Theantae, chef-patron of Som’s Table in Hua Hin, and Rohit Sharma, chef-patron of Tapori Bangkok. For three nights, from Oct 18-20, the two will merge their experiences to present "Oh Calcutta! Chef Som X Tapori". Both have created an a la carte menu of five dishes each that brings the rich culinary heritage of Calcutta (or Kolkata as it is now called), to Bangkok. Chef Som, though not widely known for a direct connection to Kolkata, has been profoundly influenced by her formative years at Kala Bhavana (Institute of Fine Arts) at Santiniketan, the open university founded by renowned poet, philosopher, and Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. She will create a menu that is a homage to her most cherished memories and culinary experiences during her time in India. The highlight is Beef tongue, braised for 10 hours in stone flower tea and pomegranate juice, and accompanied by tapioca dumplings, fried salted calamari, coconut chutney and cumin rice.
