A decade in the making
Siam Paragon celebrated its 10th anniversary with 'sparkling glamour', and 1,000 glamorous guests were not disappointed.
Siam Paragon went all out to celebrate its 10th anniversary with its “Prismatic Celebration” party, although it seems only yesterday that the shopping centre opened its doors in the busy commercial district of Pathumwan.
Standing from left, Permpoon Krairiksh, Chadatip Chutrakul, Vipada Donavanik, Jutatip Krairiksh and Araya Chittaropas. Seated from left, Kobchai and Buppa Kingchatchaval, Gunnigar Virojanavat, Jantana Pangputhipong Selby and Jaron ‘Top’ Sorat.
The invitation card called for “Sparkling Glamour”, and guests aimed to please as they signed up at the Hall of Fame, M Floor, before descending the escalator to the cordoned off area of G Floor where the party sprawled across the Dining Paradise zone on both sides of The Canal. Since visitors arrived in a scattered manner and the party venue so vast, it was hardly noticeable there were at least 1,000 guests — stars, celebrities, socialites, diplomats, business partners, media — attending the lavish party.
Guests were welcomed by Siam Paragon’s full management team — Pasinee Limatibul, Katevalee Napasab, Chadatip Chutrakul, Supaluck Umpujh, Grisana Umpujh and Mayuree Chaipromprasith. Star gazers were happy to see many Thai superstars who joined the celebration, including Phupoom “Ken” Phongpanu, Jaron “Top” Sorat, Arak “Pae” Amornsupasiri, Sunny Suwanmethanont, Thanapob “Tor” Leeratanakajorn, Chutavuth “March” Pattarakampol, Naphat “Nai” Siangsomboon, Chaiyapol “New” Poupart, Nitidon “Nike” Pomsuwan and Pattaradet “Mike” Sanguankhwamdee.
From the bottom of the escalator, guests were able to pose with the stage backdrop, which would later be dominated by Thailand’s top singers. Many guests posed with costumed performers on stilts from Austria, and enjoyed drinks from Diageo Moet Hennessy and Singha Corporation, with free flow Champagne, wine and beer, as well as 10 bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue Label to keep everyone in good spirits.
They also wandered around to the various activity corners which included pop-up portrait studios by leading photographers including Kachain Wongleanthong, Punsiri Siriwetchapun, Sixtysix, Surasak Ittirit, Thananon Thanakornkarn (creator of Benedict Studio) and Wasan Puengprasert, and cartoon portraits by artists. The portraits were personalised mementos of the occasion for guests to take home.
World-class acrobats from London also thrilled the audience, while roving magicians kept small groups of guests perplexed with well-executed tricks.
Gradually the guests made their way to their assigned restaurant outlets — Harrods Tea Room, Signor Sassi, Four Seasons, The Mandarin Oriental Shop, Amici, AOI, Cafe Chili, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Crystal Jade, Grill Tokyo, Manna, Hey, Scala Shark Fin, Simply W, Taling Pling and Vanilla Brasserie — where they enjoyed a set dinner, with entertainment on the central stage by divas Nantida “Tu” Kaewbuasai, Rudklao Amratisha, Christina Aguilar, Wichayanee “Gam The Star” Pearklin, Jennifer Kim, Marsha Vadhanapanich, Nat Myria, Nicole Theriault, New & Jiew and the single male, Peerapat “Bee” Tenwong.
Shoppers were not overlooked, as the celebration also spanned through Paragon Department Store, with the presence of superstar Pakorn “Boy” Chatborirak and his little sister Wanmai, who shared happiness with their singing, photo opportunities and a 10th anniversary cake for shoppers.
