Pakk Taii Design Week is returning to Songkhla Old Town between Aug 17-25 to shed light on the past of this thriving marine trading hub dating back to the Dvaravati period.
With the theme "The South's Turn", the festival aims to highlight the peaceful co-existence of the old and new by fusing traditional cultural aspects with contemporary circumstances, offering immersive experiences to both residents and visitors.
From 11am to 9pm, it will be divided into five themes to offer a variety of creative exhibitions, art installations, light displays, mixed media presentations, cultural performances, and talks and workshops to bring the town back to life. The highlights include a film festival, which will bring creative minds together and encourage future collaborations, the Livable City Project with an aim to enhance the livability of neighbourhoods and cities in the South, and the "South Secret Recipe" that will celebrate unique southern culinary traditions.

National Day Parade in Singapore will take place tomorrow and start at Padang, the former National Stadium and The Float @ Marina Bay. With over 3,000 participants, the parade will portray the story of the country while synchronising with music and films.
It will open with a memorial to the pioneers' unwavering spirit, then shows the nation's unity via its rich and varied culinary legacy before ending on a positive note as the nation looks forward to an even better future.
This year, Voices of Singapore, Swift Skating Academy, Singapore Gymnastics National Training Centre, vocalists Amni Musfirah, Shazza, Weish, and cellist Olivia Chuang are just a few of the artists and partners that will join in the live NDP debut.
The show will also feature three short films highlighting Singaporeans from diverse backgrounds: "Film One – Family" celebrates its diverse food culture; "Film Two – Care and Compassion" shares four stories of individuals going above and beyond to uplift the community; and "Film Three – We, the Citizens of Singapore" pays tribute to Singaporeans by showcasing 22 individuals of various occupations to emphasise collective responsibility.
